I attended this concert on March 23rd March at the Barbican in London. Valery Gergiev conducted the London Symphony Orchestra.
- Rodion Shchedrin Lithuanian Saga: I was not impressed by the martial and violent recreation of a battle in the medieval times.
- Shostakovich Violin Concerto No 1. (1948) Leonidas Kavakos’s performance at the violin was moving and exhalirating but carried with reassurance. This concert was played on the piano at private parties until Stalin’s death.
- Tchaikovsky Symphony No 2. Light and easy to the ear.
