Photo from the river Thames of the pub The Prospect of Whitby in Wapping, London. Known as a tavern from the 16th century. When James II had to flee to France, one of his most dreaded servants, Lord Judge Jeffreys, the ‘Hanging Judge’, was caught, as the legend goes, when in a cellar at the tavern dressed as a coal-heaver. He was taken to the Tower where he became ill and died.
