Goddards Pie and Mash in Greenwich

I still remember a lunch in one of the last genuine Pie and Mash houses in East London only days before their closure a few years ago. The owners sold the popular business to a chain of hamburgers, Gourmet Burger Kitchen.

Goddard’s had been run by the same families for generations. Their affordable food was a must when visiting Greenwich in a cold Sunday. Their shop stood very neer to the Cutty Sark and the DLR station.

The pies were baked inside the house. While queuing to get yours, the heat and smell of the pies kept you alert and ready to order yours.

The family business announced their comeback through the Goddards’ group at Facebook. I checked it recently and their are back in business as a ‘mobile unit’.

Good luck, Goddards’!
